Rescue of the Silver Beast...

And the next couple days...Wednesday afternoon/ evening/night...I cooked meatlovers spagetti <<<< don't know how because I was sooooo tired!  Anyways I was saved by the SILVER BEAST ie my best friend...one of my best friends came and picked me up and we went to McDondals and had a Frozen Carmel Latte which is different from a frozen one very different one is liquid with Ice and othe other is like a smoothie.  And I heard one of my favorite songs I call it " I Be Ducked Off ", but I dont know the real name.  I relaxed rebooted and came to class today and passed my Personal Selling Exam.  Mrs. Laird again glad I don't get tired of seeing her face and her mine its very interesting in her classes. And today....I get my little adventure and tomorrow on to McComb << tell you about that next week.

And the Week Begins…

So now Monday rolls back around I get the date of my Personal Selling presentation and I’m all cool and relaxed because I’m thinking “oh I’m good I already finished mine”, ha in my dreams it wouldn’t be Mrs. Laird if she didn’t make you step up a but…..I’ll tell you about that later.  I’ll tell you about a semi typical day after class I go to the cafeteria and force feed myself- what my friends call fruit and berries and stuff, “Is that supposed to fill up?”….a salad with chicken salad (sometimes I’ll add a piece of chicken strip) and a water or a very not sweet tea<<<<not too sweet!   I love myself some pastries, but I DO NOT like my tea too sweet!  Tuesday Marketing Class was typical….a whole lot of learning and some good note taking well in my head mostly …I learn by listening and seeing-doing as well but it depends on what I’m doing…..weird but true and I was fortunate enough to have teachers that knew about learning processes over the years so I was able to learn about my learning style early.  Wednesday is now here I schedule a very interesting meeting with a very important person for tomorrow<<will find out what it was about at a later date; and at Co-Lin we are having a health fair….I am presently typing with a pricked finger I had my blood glucose taken….guess what all is good.  My Blood pressure was better than perfect and for 247lbs at only 5’7 well I expect to have a high B.M.I. 40 I know lose 70lbs and I’ll be within my range . We will see I’ve been working on it I was 265lb this time last year; I guess the salad and working out is helping.  Back to the Personal Selling well like I said I thought I was done…silly me we finished the chapter and about 3 more minutes of talking and memorization was added…so now I’ll be up to 5 minutes of talk time and to think I thought I already had memorized half of my presentation! Well time for me to go on home now…..until a later day…be as brilliant as you can be…..and remember Networking is Key!

Mom you have to …

So Saturday morning rolls around and I was supposed to mow the back lawn, but it was again too cold-at least for me.  So I wander to my mother telling her how Erica and I discovered that Natchez Coffee Co. has beignets (weekend breakfast only). And she said those magic words—what is a beignet?  Fast forward a bit skipping a little conversation I basically drag my mom out of the bed make her get dressed and on to Natchez Coffee Co. we go.  Lucky we found a good park that was closer than I thought we would find.  Mom saw the buffet and well had her heart set on that so she had that.  Myself well I’m not big on a lot of breakfast foods so I got the beignets (the whole point of us going) and an Iced Carmel Latte.  She loved the bacon and what I call eggs benedict; oh and she found out what the Beignet was.  I had been having them every summer since 7th grade when I visited LSU for 4- H short course;   and just had not seen them on a menu, personally I prefer a softer fluffier Beignet, but I got a to go box because 12 was just too many for me alone and Erica’s review is that they were crispy and delicious.  She loves pastries f.y.i.  The atmosphere was good the waitress was great the food makes it worth going back and mom now knows what a beignet is. And of course you know this all ties into my ultimate goal or at least one of them.  This mom asked is what you mean about the customer service you want to have in your store they are really nice and attentive…always customer service is what makes it all work!....F.Y.I. I have my first personal selling presentation coming up....

The Journey …Food, Networking and Fun!

Well since I’m here at home on my journey school is going very well by.  And since the article in the paper “Marketing Student Makes Cents”, things are still going well I appreciate the advice and words of wisdom.  So I have decided that part of my journey would be discovering the tastes of the city that I will have my store in.  I’m not from Natchez originally I am from Vidalia, La. so sometimes I can get as lost as the next tourist.  I have a whole list and I’ve started working on it <<<<I’m just saying networking is part of business and what better way to network then to explore places to dine call me the Rachel Ray of Natchez that’s on a mission to build a  brand and have fun while I’m doing it. You never know who you will meet while dining out.  FYI if you ever see me out I’ll probably be with my cousin Erica, who runs “Gods Helping Hands Cleaning Services, etc.” or my mother I usually drag one of them out with me to get them out of the house to relax and experience new.  So far we have experienced “Big Momma’s” their BBQ Nacho’s with Nora’s Homemade Salsa were very difference, but tasty would I get them again?  YES! Great Wok II is one of my other finds I have fallen in love with their Hot & Sour Soup oh and the Fried Cheese Wong Tongs & Sweet Tea to die for. “Fat Momma’s Tamales” I love their name sake the Tamales.  This Saturday I dragged my Erica downtown to “Natchez Coffee Co.”  I had a Frozen Caramel Latte  I’m so a permanent customer she had Crazy Colors Ice Cream and she so wanted more…she trying to get me to get some Beignets they serve them only on the weekends for breakfast…the customer service was supreme they were really patient I didn’t have my eyes in and they really helped A++. As far as the store I have found the location I want I think it will be just right with a little work on the inside I not I have time to find something else.  I have definitely found the Merchanding Display Set that I want the company is awesome they have Great customer service.  If you can’t tell yet I’m big on customer service I truly believe that is the foundation of good business making the customers feel appreciated.

P.S. I Forgot to mention attending the balloon race that I attended with mom and neice

Flashe Back Pt. 2

Spring Conference 2011

So I already mentioned that I already knew what I wanted to do but how to go about doing was another story completely I had an Idea but still needed a bit of guidance.  That’s where my, Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Business and Marketing Management Technology <<<<I know a whole mouthful>>> and D.E.C.A. comes into play.  Back in January Mrs. Laird convinced me and a few others after only about 6 weeks in the program to attend the State D.E.C.A. competition and COMPETE...me with my bad nerves or so I tell myself I have them sometimes.  Anyways, we competed and we placed I personally placed in the top 6 of the Apparel Merchandising and Marketing Category (5th) not bad for my first go round and I didn’t  wreck my nerves I was proud of me.  I was on a roll. The fall conference was very informantive as well it was held earlier this month  in Tupalo, MS . I could'nt eat most of the food it was pork and I was so not trying to get sick.  Researching and going forward I have been on fast forward ever since I love learning and excelling doing different and new things.  I’m self-motivated, but I must say between my mom, friends <<< instructor and other supporters I can’t help but to want to do the best I can.  Excuse the continued broken thoughts but I was writing this in the mist of cooking for my family otherwise they would be reduced to sandwiches for the next few days………Vegetarian spaghetti  ha…meat eaters beware and  chicken a-la-garden baked!

Flash Back A Few Months Pt.1

So I’m guessing given the situation and the subject upon which my blog lays a back story is deserved.  More simply put how did I end up back here?  To make a long story short I came to alleviate some of the pressures off of my half sick mother<<<I know there is no such thing as half sick.  She called told me what was going on and I came back here (Natchez, Ms.), though to be honest most of my friends and life was down there (Baton Rouge, La.) at least until I finished school it was and would have been.  When I left my Dad was not so excited about it—anyone that knows him well enough knows that, but he has accepted the situation and has adjusted nicely.  Not only has it been an adjustment for him, but for me as well.  December 23rd of this year 2011 will make it a year that I have been back here (home) the Miss-Lou area.  Though a few years back I was here for a while living with my beloved second family (Ruthie, Patty, Jaz, Keke, Darrell)—it’s really been a long time since I can say I have been here long enough to really achieve or participate in anything substantial or noteworthy. I finally after several years spent a birthday with my immediate family that in itself is a wonder quiet refreshing if you really want to know the truth.
Getting back on track-- my coming home is what landed me to enrolling in Copiah Lincoln Community College better known around here as Co-Lin.  I was not coming home and not doing what I have moved back to Baton Rouge, La. to do.  Co-Lin had the program I was interested in everyone was very kind and helpful during the enrollment process. And the icing on the cake -the Business and Marketing Management head Mrs. Laird was very encouraging and supportive, so I had a smooth transition.  Already having decided what it was that I wanted to do (my baby project—the store NaavaL2) <<when I finish school amongst other things I plan on building my Brand and she is the perfect person to teach me exactly how to do that….I mean all you have to do is listen she lectures plenty…the fun part she even openly accepts and even asks for our input.  Enrolling back in school is what leads to me starting to participate in Collegiate D.E. C. A. and organization that the more I participate the more I find beneficial. Networking is key it is not something that comes naturally to most it is a skill that can be acquire<<< to be honest my high school 4-H agent Mrs. Debby taught me that but, D.E.C.A. has reinforced it.
PART 2 WILL COME ON ANOTHER DAY<<<<<>>>>>>> THIS IS GONNA BE SO INTERESTING…..THE JOURNEY

Life in My Lane

When I first came back here (to Natchez, MS), I had no Idea what would happen, but little did I know I was on the road from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds.I was blinded why looking head on into the headlights of what would become the driving ambition of my life. This is my story of a journey on the road to obtaining my dreams- all of them- and they are far from lacking . So see the world the way I do, now hop on in and join me, ” in my lane” to conquer my piece of this small  world…….And the journey begins.                                                                                                                                                  ****Oh and I guess I should let you know I'll start with a bit of the backstory that leads to this point****
